3 DAYS MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL PARK

Murchison Falls National Park is located approximately 310km and takes around 5 to 6hours driving to Masindi in the Northern end of the Albertine rift valley where the sweeping of Bunyoro escarpment tumbles into vast, palm-dotted savanna, hosting over 76 species of mammals. This stretch of river provides one of Uganda's most remarkable wildlife spectacles.

Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe and Transfer to Murchison Falls

You will be welcomed by representatives from Prime Tours Uganda. Transfer to Kampala city, and then embark on journey en route Murchison Falls National Park via Bombo road. Stopover in Luwero town for lunch at Unique restaurant/Royal restaurant/Best Meals restaurant. Continue northwards to Karuma falls where you will see troops of baboons staring on at vehicles passing by, you will be amazed by the beautiful water falls passing under the Karuma Bridge. Head on to Murchison falls via Pakwach and check in at the lodge.

Go for a boat cruise to the Albertine Delta. Expect to see Nile crocodiles busking at the river banks, schools of hippos swimming in the water, aquatic birds among others. You will be swept off your feet by the spectacular view of the Nile waters gushing through a narrow gorge only about 7 meters wide falling to a depth of about 40 meters. The Nile waters divide

The boat will dock at a point a few meters away from the Devil’s Cauldron where you will begin your hike to the top of the falls. The hike is a rewarding experience as you will have various views of the waterfalls and you could spot the rainbow casted by the waterfalls and this is where River Nile passes at a tip of Lake Albert forming the Albert Nile. Day 2: Game drive

Early morning breakfast at 6:30am and thereafter go for a morning game drive through the winding tracks of the large park as you watch the beautiful sun rise. Expect to see the regular animal species to the riverbanks include elephants, Jackson’s heart beast, kobs, baboons, monkeys, giraffes and buffaloes; while hippos, Nile crocodiles and aquatic birds are permanent residents. Dinner and overnight stay Paraa Safari Lodge/Fort Murchison lodge/Murchison safari lodge.

Day 3: Trekking/Hiking and departure

Have your morning breakfasrt, start the trek or hike to the top of the Murchison Falls, or enjoy a nature walk through Kaniyo Pabidi or Rabongo forest. The top of the falls hike starts with a boat ride to ‘The Baker Point’, named after the British explorer, Sir Samuel Baker.

You will walk through rolling hills, surrounded by the verdant countryside, and a plethora of birds. As you meander through the park, the ever-present thunder of the crashing falls gets louder and louder, until it surrounds you completely.  Once you reach the top, you will see the Nile forcing its way between a narrow 7-metre gorge, before plunging 43 metres off the cliff and into the pool below.  After witnessing the dramatic falls, explore the diversity of African wildlife found in Murchison as you hike though Kaniyo Pabidi and Rabongo forest.  

After the trekking or a hike into the park. Proceed to Masindi town where you will have lunch at Kabalega restaurant/Jazz restaurant/Traveller’s Conner restaurant. After lunch, embark on the journey back to Kampala, you will be left at the location of your choice or at the airport for your departure flight.
